Connection With The One

Unity Santa Fe Prayer Column December Hanukkah Prayer2023

Each year in the month of December, people around the world have special
celebrations and holidays both religious and secular. Some of these include: Diwali Festival of Lights, Hanukkah, Bodhi Day, Las Posadas, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice, and Christmas to name but a few. These holidays celebrate light, rebirth and renewal, and humankind’s connection to the Divine. Most include the bestowing of presents to share our blessings with others.

The holidays can also bring a lot of busy-ness as we prepare by putting up decorations, buying and cooking special foods, shopping for or making special gifts for family and friends. It can be a challenge to maintain inner peace with so much to do. One thing that each of us can do is give ourselves the gift of Presence. If only for a few minutes each day, I can find a quiet place, sit in silence, and experience my connection with the One.

In these moments of peaceful prayer, I am able to return to the Light
within and re-mind myself of the true meaning of the holidays which is to celebrate Love, Light, Peace, Joy and true Connection with All. Anytime I feel myself caught up in energies that do not serve my highest good, I can breath deeply, relax, and whisper that wonderful prayer by James Dillet Freeman.

The Light of God surrounds me.
The Love of God enfolds me.
The Power of God protects me.
The Presence of God watches over me.
Wherever I AM, God IS, and all is well.
May you enjoy the rich blessings of your chosen holiday.
