Beautiful River / Nature
Our consciousness reveals that all of creation is connected as one. The story of creation reveals that we are to be good caregivers of the creation. As a people of faith, we commit to a renewed reverence for life and respect for the interdependent web of all existence.

We honor a world in which everything has intrinsic value and where all beings are assured a secure and meaningful life that is ecologically responsible and sustainable.

We agree to transform our individual and congregational lives into acts of moral witness, discarding harmful habits for new behaviors, sustaining the future of the planet for all creation while demonstrating our respect for this harmony and interconnectedness.

Unity Santa Fe's
Earth Care Action Tips for September:

"The goal of zero waste is to create a sustainable system wherein everything that we create goes back into the earth to nourish it, thereby creating no waste." From the book "How To Go (Almost) Zero Waste" Rebecca Grace Andrews, MA, MS:

1. Β Buy in bulk: Β Mainstream grocery stores increasingly offer bulk dry foods, and pet stores will sell such supplies as cat litter that way. Bring your own containers or bags and reduce waste even further.

2. Β Reduce the impact of your paper goods: Choose recycled paper instead of Styrofoam or plastic, and compostable unbleached paper instead of white glossy packing trash.

3. Β Look for Used items: in thrift stores, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist and Freecycle. These are good ways to reduce waste.

4. Β Skip Fabric Softener and Dryer Sheets: Both affect your clothing with toxic chemicals. Use safer methods: wool balls, hanging synthetics to dry, or use a vinegar rinse in your washer.

5. Β Install a clothesline or drying rack: Ko yard or tight space? Consider hanging a collapsible drying rack in the shower or over your laundry area.Β

Tips for Work

Remember to: Take whatever steps you can, remembering that the collective impact of each step is powerful.Β Β Aim for almost zero waste, not perfection.
