Sandi Decker

Treasurer

Nebraska was my home for the first 26 years of my life, where I earned a BS in Medical Technology from the University of Nebraska. I went on to work as a Medical Technologist for four years, while my husband attended Medical School, after which we relocated to Seattle for his two years of internship and fellowship.

When my children, Lisa and Ryan, were under five, I returned to school, taking one course at time, and eventually earned a Masters in Accounting from Roosevelt University in Chicago. After passing the CPA exam in 1979, we moved to Sunnyvale, CA. During my accounting career, I have worked in public accounting firms, been a corporate controller, computer consultant, and financial and life coach.

In 1990, I moved to Santa Fe, having spent just one day here a year before, knowing no one and without a job arranged. At Southwestern College, I enrolled in the master’s program and studied psychology and art therapy for a year and a half. In 1992, realizing I was never going to do this work, I launched my own accounting and tax practice serving individuals and businesses - building strong relationships by becoming a trusted resource for my clients. After having a long and successful business, I sold my practice and retired in 2012.

At age 40, I started backpacking. To this day, few things bring me more joy than camping by a river, preferably, as remote as possible. I also love international travel, reading, painting and collage, and learning something new whenever I can. I volunteer in the art classroom at Acequia Madre one afternoon a week and cherish being a grandmother to my four wonderful grandchildren.

New Thought has been woven into my life for over 35 years, beginning with Science of Mind. Practicing this philosophy daily has been truly transformative. In the past, I have been the Leader of the EarthCare Team. Currently, I serve as a Prayer Practitioner, sit on the Finance Committee and hold the Prosperity Consciousness for Unity Santa Fe, as the Abundance Angel.
