November brings my favorite holiday of the year. As a long-time practitioner of gratitude as a spiritual path, Thanksgiving Day is truly special to me. It brings into focus just how blessed I am and asks me to share those blessings with others. I no longer prepare elaborate feasts for a table surrounded by friends and family. Many of those with whom I shared the bounty from my kitchen in years past have crossed the veil. Others are now at a distance. But I relish the memories of those times β the laughter, camaraderie, and sharing.
My life is smaller these days, but I can still enrich the lives of others by donating to a food bank or providing a meal for a family through my local grocery store. And I can offer prayers of comfort and support for those who are going through difficulties. And I can offer you this prayer of gratitude.
For the gift of life, for each breath and heartbeat that sustains me I am so grateful.
For the love of family and friends, for the kindness of strangers, and for the beauty woven into each day I am so grateful
For blessings seen and unseen, for the opportunities to grow, and for peace in my heart I am so grateful.
Even in challenges, I am guided toward my highest good with wisdom and strength.
May my heart remain open, my words affirm goodness and truth, and my actions reflect the gratitude I feel.
And so it is.
My warmest wishes to all for a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving Day.
